50 years as Carillonneur!
This year, Trevor Workman marks 50 years as Bournville Carillonneur.
Trevor took over from Clifford Ball in 1965 and is only the 3rd Carillonneur in the 109 years since the Carillon was installed as a gift to Bournville from George Cadbury in 1906. This fantastic achievement was celebrated on Saturday 13th June in two surprise events held in Bournville.
A Civic Reception took place during the afternoon at Selly Manor with the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, members of the Cadbury family, Trevor's family and friends from Bournville and beyond. Boudewijn Zwart had made the trip from Holland to give a guest recital on the Carillon during the afternoon.
To continue with the surprise, Trevor and his wife Joy were guests of honour at an evening concert in St Francis Church to hear a performance from Birmingham Choir, Ex Cathedra, conducted by Jeffrey Skidmore. The concert featured tributes from Boudewijn Zwart, Revd Canon Keith Withington (formerly Vicar of Bournville), Revd Canon Peter Babington (current Vicar of Bournville) and Jayne Cadbury (President of the 'Friends of Bournville Carillon').
Thank you to all those who organised such a special day. Congratulations Trevor and thank you for your commitment and service to Bournville over the last 50 years!
