Bournville Act of Remembrance WORLD WAR 1 ARMISTICE Centenary Commemoration
Bournville will be responding to a National call for special recognition on Remembrance Sunday of the World War 1 Armistice Centenary Commemoration.
The poster below gives details of the events which will take place between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm on Remembrance Sunday. There is a call for all bells in the land to be rung at 12:30 pm to mark 100 years since the end of WW1 and uniquely in Bournville there will be a commemorative Carillon recital to be given by Trevor Workman. The programme will include Bournville Carillon with vocalist Laura-Joy Godwin singing from the tower accompanied by the carillon. The soloist will be amplified to achieve a balance of voice and instrument for an open air listening experience.
A programme for the carillon presentation will be published on this website imminently. The event will be the first of its kind and will hopefully be a fitting effective tribute and commemoration to all those who gave their lives in past conflicts but remembering especially in this Centennial year the sacrifice of those who died in the First World War (1914 - 1918).
